Cheryl Goodchild

Cheryl started her teaching career as a Physical Education teacher, progressing to Head of Department, Head of the Creative Arts Faculty and Head of House, before moving on to the Senior Leadership Team in 2016.

Goffs-Churchgate Academy was established in 2017, and as Assistant Principal, Cheryl was instrumental in driving the raising achievement strategies that resulted in the exceptional improvement in the school’s outcomes, which led to the school achieving national recognition and receiving the SSAT (School, Students and Teachers Network) award for exceptional Key Stage 4 outcomes in 2019.

During her time as Assistant Principal, Cheryl also led the school’s Personal Development work, for which the school was awarded the National SMSC Gold Quality Mark by the Citizenship Foundation. In addition to this award, the school was asked to become a Beacon School to share good practice and support other schools in improving their provision, becoming one of the first Secondary Schools in the country to achieve this standard.

Cheryl was promoted to the new position of Trust Effectiveness Advisor in 2022, and now utilises her extensive analytical skills to support the progress of all schools across the Trust. She leads the Trust’s Data and Analysis Team, providing detailed strategic performance and attendance analysis for each school across all phases, and providing guidance for school leaders on where strategic priorities lie, as well as supporting the continued growth of the Trust
